How to Avoid The Need Of Debt Collection #1

It’s not some weird marketing ploy, I actually want you to avoid the need of debt collection. If you have had a consultation with me, you know I do all I can to assist prior to our services being engaged.

In this series of posts, I wish to show different ways to mitigate unpaid invoices or have the right tools to react.

Preparation.

A good chef prepares the ingredients before the cafe opens.
Seasoned musicians warm up their instruments before a performance.
A secure business owner prepares their contracts before work commences.

Having the right agreements prepared will have the largest effect on your accounts. You can deter illogical disputes with plainly laid out terms and consequences for delayed payments. Much of the actions you can take make is difficult for an illegitimate dispute to hold up payment.

These types of terms and preparation can include:

  • interest
  • late/admin fees
  • legal costs
  • directors guarantee
  • variation confirmation
  • dispute resolution guides
  • signed PO/QUOTE/CONTRACT

The best thing about many of these options is that they are set and forget. Use this for one contract and it’s there for future use.

Although smaller jobs may not use signed contracts or agreements, there are still things you can do to protect yourself. I will be delving into all these options over the next few months to help you avoid needing debt collection.

Sadly, there is no 100% full-proof option to avoid the need of debt collection, no matter how well you implement it, however, collectors like myself are here to help if trouble still comes your way.
